Evaluation of Blog Experience

It has always been a trouble for me to understand the english language. The dedication to english was poor in my school even tough they promised to be a bilingual institution. My teacher never had patience and being in her classes was a real torture. For 14 years, English has been my frustration. My experience with blogs has been quite nice, some topics are very interesting and others are not so much. I liked the methodology and I think it is a good place to get to know each other better and learn at the same time. It is very entertaining and exciting to write about the topics we like and write them in English. Is a very big challenge. I think my writing skills have improved a lot, because those features are improved with daily practice, which is why I consider blogs to be a good way to practice writing in English. In the future I would like to include more free topics blogs, because it is more entertaining to write about what one likes and not about pre-established topi...

Food I like cooking for myself

Imagen
I have always been very overprotected by my mother and she had never liked cooking, nor did she like me to be near the kitchen because when I had about three or four years old I burned my whole body with the water of a kettle. Despite this, when I grew up I started to enjoy cooking because my father loves it. He is a food company administrator. I really like to cook, although I never have time to do it. I watched the entire first season of the reality show Master Chef and often got up at midnight to imitate recipes that were made in the program. I like cooking lasagna very much, I always prepare it by buying the pre-cooked plates, and I have never considered the challenge of preparing the dough myself, although one day I prepared gnocchi. I usually cook lasagna  with cheese, meet and tomato sauce or alfredo sauce.  To cook it, I soak the dough in boiling water to soften them then I cook the meat with tomato sauce, oregano, garlic and other condiments in ...

My indignation

Chile is a very retrograde country. It is one of the few countries where abortion is penalized along with Nicaragua, El Salvador, Malta and the Vatican, very religious countries. Considering that Chile is a supposedly secular country, it makes me furious that the rights of women continue to be violated by courageous conflicts with the Catholic Church. Currently in Chile, a bill is being drafted to decriminalize abortion in three causes: the risk of death of the mother, the infeasibility of crime and rape. These three causes represent a little advance, however, the law condition the freedom of women only in this three cases, not being able to be free in right, dignity and decision in other cases that do not want to continue an unwanted pregnancy. I am indignant that Chile is a country so macho and retrograde and the fact that the world is a place where being a woman is a punishment, where you can not go out without fear, where abortion is bad and illegal but a violation is soci...

A Subject You've Enjoyed.

My favorite subject of this semester is Critical Theory, is a very theoretical branch where the society and its hierarchical structures are analyzed. This subject is based on Marxist theories and for this reason we have to read authors like Antonio Gramsci, Karl Marx, Friedrich Engel, Adorno and Horkheimer.  The classes are held every Friday afternoon by teacher Pierina Ferretti, in these classes the teacher exposes and explains the ideas of the authors studied and at the end every topic carries out an evaluation. In all these classes the requested texts are analyzed and topics such as cultural industry, power, the strength of ideas, hegemony and art are addressed.  In addition to the main class we have back up classes, made by the assistant teacher Diego Rivera. He's a sociology student at the Catholic University and in his classes we do written works where we must apply the contents seen with the teacher.  This subject is my favorite because it really does not se...

Pamela Jiles   Pamela Jiles is a Chilean journalist who is currently engaged in entertainment, but previously she did programs and wrote books about dictatorship and after this she focus on writing about sexuality. She was tortured and sexually abused during the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet in Chile. She lived in Cuba because of the Communist political tendency of her family. She is the granddaughter of the feminist activist Elena Caffarena from whom she learned a lot about women's rights. She wrote a book with María Olivia Mönckeberg, director of ICEI entitled “Crimen under state of siege” and also participated in magazines like Apsi, Análisis and Fortín Mapocho. She has participated in several television programs like Vértigo, SQP, Mentiras verdaderas y Primer Plano. I admire Pamela Jiles a lot because even tho she had excelent qualifications in college, she was able to get away from the traditional journalism and focus on the area she really wanted, sho...
