Pamela Jiles

Pamela Jiles is a Chilean journalist who is currently engaged in entertainment, but previously she did programs and wrote books about dictatorship and after this she focus on writing about sexuality. She was tortured and sexually abused during the dictatorship of Augusto Pinochet in Chile. She lived in Cuba because of the Communist political tendency of her family. She is the granddaughter of the feminist activist Elena Caffarena from whom she learned a lot about women's rights.

She wrote a book with María Olivia Mönckeberg, director of ICEI entitled “Crimen under state of siege” and also participated in magazines like Apsi, Análisis and Fortín Mapocho. She has participated in several television programs like Vértigo, SQP, Mentiras verdaderas y Primer Plano.

I admire Pamela Jiles a lot because even tho she had excelent qualifications in college, she was able to get away from the traditional journalism and focus on the area she really wanted, showbusiness, even if it wasn't considered professional enough.

I also admire her critical thinking and her direct style. Without wanting to sound intellectual, I must admit that the show business bores me, but I think Pamela Jiles managed to create a mix between the entertaiment world, politics, feminism and social conscience, that's why I admire this woman.

  2. I love Pamela Jiles and her idea of going to vote for Osandón in the primaries of Chile Vamos. I would love it to work well and that Piñera stays with the desire to be president.
